Day 1

Marrakech

From Marrakech, we reach the High Atlas through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and take a mountain road amid luxuriant vegetation then drive past Imerzgane down to Ouarzazate.

Day 2

Ouarzazate

From Ouarzazate. After the el Mansour dam we take the road of the 1000 kasbahs following the Skoura track (Amridil) and stopping to take a walk in the palm-grove. We drive through the Valley of Roses. The panoramic views of the High Atlas and Berber villages are breathtaking. Then we follow the impressive Bouthrarar track. After having had tea with nomads we take the road again towards the Dadès gorges.

Day 3

Tingherir

From Tingherir to the Merzouga desert. On the way we stop for a walk in the Todgha gorges after the Tingherir palm grove. Then the road takes us to Erfoud before reaching the spectacular dunes of the erg Chebbi and further on, Merzouga. Late afternoon and after a two-hour-méharée we bivouac in the dunes.

Day 4

Merzouga

After bivouacking, riding dromedaries we depart after watching the sun rise over the dune summits. Return journey towards Merzouga. Then the road leads us to Rissani, known for its famous souk. Numerous fossils have been found in this region. First we get a view of the wild landscapes of the djbel Sagho then we go down towards Tazzarine and Nekob. The road leads us to the Drâa valley.

Day 5

Zagora

From Zagora, ancient caravan city, we travel to Tamegroute famous for its Koranic library and traditional potteries. After a visit of the town we are on the way to M’hamid, true gateway to the desert. Following the track we reach the Chegaga dunes marvelling at the wonderful and diverse landscapes : erg, reg, hamada, oasis, watching the sunset over the dunes then bivouacking at night.

Day 6

Chegaga

One day in the Chegaga desert with a trek in the dunes, a camel ride in the desert, possibly a meeting with nomads,a lunch in dunes, a sand bath. Then we walk back to the bivouac.

Day 7

Chegaga

From Chegaga, the track goes across the dried-up lake Iriki and reaches the palm-grove of Foum Zguid. Return journey via Tazenakht and the Tizi-N-Bachkoum pass. We drive to the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou well coloured at sunset.

Day 8

Ait Ben Haddou

We discover the impressive Ounila valley looking at Berber villages perched on mountainsides then head towards the salt mines of Telouet, before Telouet (Glaoui kasbah). On our return journey we drive through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass and reach Marrakech.

It's possible to stay only one night in the  Chegaga desert
