Departure from Ouarzazate. After el Mansour dam the road of the 1000 kasbahs links the Drâa Valley and Talifalt. We start the day taking the Skoura track and discovering beautiful kasbahs (Amridil) before walking through the palm-grove. From the Valley of Roses (elKelaa des-M’Gouna) magnificent panoramic views of the High Atlas and traditional Berber Villages. Follows the impressive Bou-Thrarar track. We stop for tea with nomads. Then back on the track which goes downwards and reaches the Dadès gorges.
Departure from Dadès. Along the way visit of the Tingherir palm-grove and a walk through the very impressive Todgha gorges. The road takes us towards Erfoud before reaching the amazing erg Chebbi dunes as we follow the track to Merzouga. Late afternoon a two-hour meharee through the dunes to reach our bivouac. Evening meal and night under a modern Berber tent.
We leave the bivouac riding dromedaries after sunrise over the dune summits and travel back towards the Merzouga inn. Then on to Rissani well-known for its souk and numerous fossils found in the region and a ride down to Tazzarine and Nekob before following the track leading to the Drâa Valley.
Road to Chegaga. We leave for M’Hamid, the true gateway to the desert and follow the route of the caravans. From Zagora, an ancient caravan town, we ride towards Tamegroute well-known for its Koranic library and its potteries. The track leads us to the Chegaga dunes. Arrival before sunset. Starry night spent bivouacking in a modern berber tent.
Road to Aït Ben Haddou. After an early walk at sunrise we drive across lake Iriki and follow the track to the Foum Zguid palm- grove. On our return journey we first visit Tazenakht famous for its carpets and further along the ksar Aït Ben Haddou, magnificent in the deep colours of sunset. We then reach Ouarzazate.
